ShoreLands is proud of its many achievements, such as:
- Innovation to get the job done...
One of the first large undertakings performed by ShoreLands was the unloading and placement of the Kleenheat gas tanks at Channel Island, Northern Territory.
The tanks were transported from Perth by road, weighed 100 tonnes each and measured 40m x 7m. ShoreLands was asked to tender for the unloading of the tanks and subsequently won the tender with an innovative method involving the use of skates (the tenders of all other companies were based on using cranes, which entailed enormous cost).
Due to the sheer size of each tank and the safety of employees being of paramount importance, an engineer was employed to design the method. Similarly, due to the size of the tanks, the contract was progressed in four stages, with each tank being separately unloaded and put in place.
- Construction down under...
The construction of the Woodcutter’s mine shaft was another contract performed in unusual circumstances. This contract involved a crane working below ground to a depth of 600 metres.
- Going the distance with gas pipelines...
In 1996 ShoreLands successfully tendered for the contract to excavate, weld and lay the longest high pressure plastic pipeline yet to be built in the Northern Territory. The project included trenching 11.5 kilometres through heavy bushland. Scheduled to be carried out during the dry season, the project was delayed (through no fault of ShoreLands). ShoreLands was faced with the additional challenge of completing the tender during the worst wet season in Northern Territory history. However, innovative ideas, comprehensive planning and implementation of procedures for safe work practices ensured the often seemingly impossible conditions were overcome and the project successfully completed, on time, within the dry season schedule. Again, ShoreLands had demonstrated its ability to undertake and successfully complete difficult tasks in adverse conditions.
