community support... giving back to the community
The ShoreLands Group takes pride in its active physical and financial support of community groups and events such as:
- Dragons Abreast (breast cancer awareness and support organisation) As well as being the major sponsor, the Group supplies rent-free office and storage space in its Winnellie premises and provides the use of its boardroom for Dragons Abreast’s annual general and other meetings. Fundraising assistance is also given for events such as the Dragon Boat Races, Crab and Quail Night, Hit Pink Golf Day, etc., with ShoreLands Group staff donating their time assistance with coordination, organisation, obtaining items to be auctioned, etc.
- Fred’s Pass Show. Again, the Group is a major sponsor of this annual community event which takes place each May at Fred’s Pass, 40 km from Darwin’s CBD.
Tiwi Bombers. This indigenous NTFL team from the Tiwi Islands (comprising Bathurst and Melville Islands) was formed in 2006, and became the highest finishing debut team in the NTFL’s history by making it into the 2007 finals, with a team member being drafted into the AFL following their first full year of competition. The ShoreLands Group is the Tiwi Bombers’ major sponsor, assisting with provision of rent-free office space, air travel, uniforms, coaching, etc.- ShoreLands Group employees regularly hold staff fundraising events such as Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, barbecues, etc. with money raised being donated to causes including the State Cancer Council, Camp Quality and Leukaemia Foundation.
